Event Information
What is Back To School?
The Back to School Program has been helping to ensure the leaders of tomorrow - the young people in our community - have the basic tools they need to start the school year off successfully. This event is for school-aged children entering Transitional Kindergarten to 12th Grade. Note that proof of school admission may be requested. Children will receive a backpack full of school supplies and new clothes for the school year.
When is it scheduled for?
This event will be held in person on August 5th, 2023, at Old Navy at Westgate Mall. More information regarding the event will be communicated to registered and certified participants closer to the day of the event.
How will it work this year?
At our annual Back to School Program, children are paired with an adult volunteer chaperone who will assist them with choosing the clothing they need for school. Each child will also receive a backpack.
All volunteers will be properly screened by WVCS.
Client registration for this event will be from June 1st, 2023 to June 30th, 2023. Clients must be certified as a WVCS client AND registered for the event in order to be a participant.
More information regarding the event's details will be communicated to registered and certified participants closer to the day of the event.
How do I get certified and registered?
Registration will be from June 1st, 2023 to June 30th, 2023. Clients must be certified as a WVCS client AND registered for the event in order to be a participant.

Clients can register on our website, through the QR code on the flier, or collect a paper application at the front desk.

Certifications and re-certifications are done everyday Mon - Fri Mon 9AM-11:30 AM and 2PM-4PM (June 1st to June 30th).

If you are a new market client and unable to make an appointment before June 23rd, please still come in during the registration period listed above.

Clients must live in zip codes: 95014, 95030, 95032, 95033, 95070, 95129, 95130
What do I need to bring to be certified?
Documents required to recertify are: Valid ID for all adult family members, Proof of Income (paystubs or benefit letters), and the most recent PG&E bill (within last 30 days). If you do not have a paystub, please come see a case manager.
Do I have to pay?
No. This event is free and funded through our generous donors.
