Food Market

The West Valley Community Services Food Market provides a wide selection of canned, packaged, and perishable foods to families who are experiencing food insecurities. Clients visit our Market weekly and shop from a selection of healthy and delicious foods in partnership with Second Harvest Food Bank and donor stores including Costco, Nob Hill, Sprouts, Target, Trader Joe's, 99 Ranch, Creekside Farmer's Market, and other local vendors.

West Valley Community Services Market is open to all clients living in the west valley communities of Cupertino (95014), Los Gatos (95030, 95032, 95033), Monte Sereno, Saratoga (95070), and West San Jose (95129, 95130). You can call 408-255-8033 to book an appointment with a case manager to complete the enrollment for services.

HOW IT WORKS:  ​

  • Please bring your photo ID.

  • Please do not line up before the market shifts open. Food will only be distributed during the times listed below.

  • Masks are required and when using the market please use hand sanitizer or gloves.

  • Monday through Friday 8:00am - 12:00pm 

  • (Closed for Lunch 12:00pm - 1:00pm)

  • Monday through Friday 1:00pm - 5:00pm

  • Extended hours THURSDAY ONLY 5:00pm - 8:00pm

MARKET PANTRY HOURS:

Please do not line up before Food Market opens

  • Monday through Friday 9:30am - 11:15am 

  • Monday through Friday 1:30pm - 4:15pm

  • Extended hours THURSDAY ONLY 4:45pm - 7:15pm

FRESH FRIDAYS:

Friday Afternoon Market Hours from 1:30pm - 4:15pm are only for ready to eat prepared foods, fruits, vegetables, and bakery items. Clients who have shopped earlier in the week can return to shop during these hours only.

​

PRE-BAG:

For those who cannot shop in the Market themselves, clients will receive 1 bag each of dry goods, refrigerated proteins, and produce. Households with 4 or more people will receive 1 additional bag of dry goods. We will abide by dietary restrictions and preferences - choices will vary based on availability.

​

USDA:

Friday afternoons only at 1:00pm. Clients only need to self-certify for USDA.

In the 2020-2021 fiscal year:

  • 1,872,720 meals were distributed to low income and homeless families.

  • 3,442 individuals visited the West Valley Community Services Food Market and the Park-It Market, receiving groceries, household items, diapers, and personal care products.

 

West Valley Community Services also offers a Mobile Food Market (Park-It Market) to clients living in Los Gatos, Saratoga, and West San Jose, providing nutritious food, case management, and referrals to clients with barriers to transportation. To learn more about the Park-It Market, click here.

Community Access to Resource & Education (CARE) Program

The WVCS CARE program provides safety net services for low income households living in the West Valley areas of Cupertino, Saratoga, Los Gatos and West San Jose. CARE helps low-income households and seniors move out of poverty towards self-sufficiency and better health outcomes. This goal is achieved through an array of services provided to our clients: Emergency Financial assistance for Rent & Utility, Access to WVCS Market for Nutrition & Groceries including fresh fruits and vegetables, Mobile Park it Market, Case Management, Connecting clients to public benefits like Calfresh, Medical and Medicare, Offering Workshops and Clinics providing resources and addressing Health needs of the clients.
