Food Market

The West Valley Community Services Food Market provides a wide selection of food to families facing a hunger crisis. Clients visit our market weekly, selecting from a variety of healthy and delicious foods donated by local partners, including Second Harvest Food Bank, Whole Foods, Safeway, Trader Joe's, Marina Foods, Sprouts, Target, Creekside Farmers' Market, and other local vendors.

Office Hours:

Monday through Friday 8:00am - 12:00pm 

(closed for lunch 12:00pm - 1:00pm)

Monday through Friday 1:00pm - 5:00pm

Extended hours Thursday ONLY 5:00pm - 8:00pm

Market (Food Pantry) Sign-In Hours:

Monday through Friday 9:30am - 11:15am 

Monday through Friday 1:30pm - 4:15pm

Extended hours Thursday ONLY 4:45pm - 7:15pm

Note: Please do not line up before the pantry shifts open.

Fresh Fridays: Abbreviated shopping only for short-term ready to eat prepared foods, fruits, vegetables, and bakery items. Check in is the same as for regular shopping with a 10 minute time limit. Clients enter and exit through regular Market doors.

Pre-Bag: For those who cannot shop in the Market themselves, clients will receive 1 bag of Dry, Produce, and Refridgerated Goods. Households with 4 or more people will receive 1 extra bag of Dry Goods. We will abide by dietary restrictions and preferences - choices will vary based on availability.

USDA: Friday afternoons only at 1:00pm. Clients only need to self-certify for USDA.

WVCS Market Rules for Clients (updated April 2021)

In the 2020-2021 fiscal year:

  • 1,872,720 meals were distributed to low income and homeless families.

  • 3,442 individuals visited the West Valley Community Services Food Market and the Park-It Market, receiving groceries, household items, diapers, and personal care products.

 

West Valley Community Services also offers a Mobile Food Market (Park-It Market) to clients living in Los Gatos, Saratoga, and West San Jose, providing nutritious food, case management, and referrals to clients with barriers to transportation. To learn more about the Park-It Market, click here.

Community Access to Resource & Education (CARE) Program

Partially sponsored by

Through the CARE program, we provide education on Food Stamps, SSI, SSID, CalWorks, & Earn Income Tax Credit (EITC) services. The CARE program makes public assistance and long-term solutions more accessible and helps clients apply for public assistance services, including food stamps, free/reduced lunches, Medicare, and Medicaid.
