Hung served on the Fremont Union High School District Board of Trustees from 2007 to 2018, supporting thousands of students and families across five high schools. A passionate leader in the Rotary Club of Cupertino, she held key roles including Club President, Area 8 Assistant Governor, Lieutenant Governor, and District Membership Chair, embodying the Rotary spirit of “service above self.” In 2020, she was elected to the Cupertino City Council and served as the first Chinese American mayor, where she continued to champion servant leadership and strengthen her community.

At West Valley Community Services, Hung was a true champion of compassion. She stood with our mission to fight hunger and homelessness, bringing her kindness, encouragement, and unwavering support to neighbors in need. We had the privilege of honoring Hung at this past Chefs of Compassion, and we will continue to honor her legacy through our service, compassion, and devotion to community.
