August 7th - 8th, 2020
What is Back To School?
Back-To-School Program has been helping to ensure the leaders of tomorrow - the young people in our community - have the basic tools they need to start the school year off successfully. The Back-To-School Program is for school-aged children entering Transitional Kindergarten to 12th Grade. Note that school admission may be requested. Children will receive a backpack full of school supplies and new clothes for the school year.
When is it scheduled for?
Back-To-School will be held on August 7-8th, 2020.
How will it work this year given Covid-19?
At our typical annual Back-To-School Program, children are paired with an adult volunteer chaperone who assists them with choosing the clothing they need for school. Afterward, they are given a backpack, supplies, and breakfast. Unfortunately, that format is not possible this year. Instead, we will be assembling packages made of backpacks and gift cards at our office. We will work with our community for volunteers to do contactless drop offs of backpacks and gift cards at your doorsteps. All volunteers will be properly screened by WVCS. We will also make some exceptions and provisions for some families to pick up the backpacks at WVCS.
Client Registration is CLOSED
If you are in need of this program and would like to place your name on the interest list, please contact your Case Manager or the Event Coordinator, Anh Nguyen, at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Volunteers will need to complete the application and submit a copy of their driver’s license and car insurance to be able to do the drop-off. Volunteers must be 21 years or older. Please note that volunteer registration also indicates your acceptance of our Megan's Law screening process which is applicable to all interested volunteer candidates.
