Poverty Simulation
Silicon Valley is one of the most affluent areas in the United States, yet poverty runs deeper than one may think. According to recent reports, more than 30% of Santa Clara County residents cannot afford basic necessities each month without financial assistance.

The Poverty Simulation immerses participants in the reality of a Silicon Valley that grows in disparity as much as prosperity. During the simulation, participants work to overcome barriers to social services, live off in-sufficient income, and encounter unforeseen economic obstacles along the way. Sponsored by the City of Cupertino and West Valley Community Services in partnership with Step Up Silicon Valley.
