Family Resources Program

Southwest Partnership

The Southwest Partnership is a collaboration that brings together community agencies, child care providers, early education specialists, and parents to develop and execute a three-year strategic plan for children under the age of six in our region.  All members meet together once a month to share information, develop strategies, and implement goals. The meeting is usually held from 3:00PM-4:30PM on the last Wednesday of every month at West Valley Community Services. Anyone who is interested is welcome to join!

For more information about joining our Partnership, please contact Esther Milo at ext. 151.

Family Support Specialists

Family Support Specialists work with families who have children prenatal to 6 years old. The goal is to ensure that children are happy, healthy and ready to succeed by the time they reach kindergarten. Family Partners will support families by personally connecting them to programs and services based on each family’s specific needs. Assistance and support may include referrals to: children’s development and social emotional screenings, free or low cost health insurance, enrollment in a high quality preschool, child care services, parent education, emergency food and shelter, counseling, job assistance, complying with court-ordered services.

Community Engagement & Education

The CES staff reaches out to families with young children through planning income-eligible, family friendly, events within our region, as well as outreaching in the community through resource sharing.  Some of our past events have included “Family Night Out” and our “Free Book Event,” in which we gave way over 5,000 books to income eligible families. We also have “Certified Application Assistants” available to help sign up children for low-cost health insurance.
